Dave Franzel is a skilled investigator and security technologist who specializes in cyber investigations, with an emphasis on social media analysis, insider threat and economic espionage investigations, investigative due diligence, and “red team” assessments. He has wide-ranging cyber-related technical and operational experience, including most recently building security platform technology and scalable cloud-based systems at the world’s largest hedge fund.

Dave has broad experience conducting software vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, and risk-mitigation for both public and private sector clients. Prior to co-founding NAXO, Dave worked for the world’s largest hedge fund as a technical product manager with a focus on security. There, he partnered with an elite team of software developers to build a new security framework to protect the firm’s highly-sensitive intellectual property. Earlier in his career, Dave provided specialized expertise in matters related to forensic litigation support, insider threats, and investigative due diligence as a member of a major U.S.-based consulting firm’s Global Risk and Investigations Practice.

Dave holds a BA in Middle Eastern Studies from Claremont McKenna College and is fluent in Arabic. After graduating from college, Dave spent three years living in Cairo where he founded Egypt’s first burrito restaurant in the midst of the Arab Spring uprising.
